Choose Edit in your profile. On the website, open profile settings. Pick a photo or nickname and save.
The app lets you choose or remove a photo and edit your nickname in one window. On the website, the photo and nickname have separate edit buttons.
If a nickname is rejected, check the field hint for allowed length and characters.
Friends invited by you see your nickname rather than your email. Avoid personal details you do not want to share.
